Lent

by RE Admin -

Lent is an old English word meaning 'lengthen'. Lent is observed in spring, when the days begin to get longer. In this period Christians take the time to reflect, pray, fast or take on extra activities and give to charity.

Lent is the period of six weeks (40 days not including Sundays) leading up to Easter, which is the most important festival in the Christian calendar. Lent started last week on Ash Wednesday and ends on Thursday 17 April, followed by Good Friday and Easter Sunday on 20 April 2025.

For resources, please see our page on Lent.
