  • Diversity in RE

    How inclusive is your RE?

Justine Ball writes: There is a wealth of information and expertise on approaching this in your whole-school curriculum available from the RADE Centre, as it has been for many years, see below. But this issue has prompted me as an RE Inspector/Adviser to reflect on how important my subject is for its contribution to helping children see the diversity and plurality of our society from every individual’s unique perspective and how distinctive our syllabus Living Difference III is in helping you address this in your RE teaching.

There is support for this in the RE Primary News latest editions, available on subscription.

We also provide booklists and other support below.

    • Booklists that celebrate diversity

Justine Ball writes: In our recent primary RE networks, RE leaders have been discussing ways to consider the diversity of their RE teaching. As well as considering the imagery, selection of information and wording used to talk about religious education, leaders have also been sharing the books they use to support not just their approach to RE but their approach to the whole curriculum. One RE leader, Jess Hamilton, from Knightwood Primary School, has shared her list of books with you here.
