Lent
Christians are observing the period of Lent at the moment and this resource signposts you to further information or resources to explore this in your RE units or in Collective Worship time.
Lent is the period of six weeks (40 days not including Sundays) leading up to Easter, which is the most important festival in the Christian calendar. Lent started last week on Ash Wednesday and ends on Thursday 17 April, followed by Good Friday and Easter Sunday on 20 April 2025.
What happens at Lent?
Lent is an old English word meaning 'lengthen'. Lent is observed in spring, when the days begin to get longer. In this period Christians take the time to reflect, pray, fast or take on extra activities and give to charity. The following resources are very helpful in providing further information for you:

- Visual Commentary On Scripture | VCS: this is an excellent website that provides a special focus currently on Lent. It shares a piece of artwork each day in Lent, provides details on the artists and further information on Christian thinking shown in the artwork.
