There are a range of plans to use with our RE syllabus, Living Difference IV, which are freely available on both RE Moodle and the RE website (accessed via sign in to your Services Portal account) These resources contain the substantive knowledge teachers need to deliver high-quality teaching about religions. They are available to schools at no cost.
-
There are a number of teaching packs available for purchase on our RE Moodle, covering topics such as Shabbat, Passover, Jewish Identity and festivals. In addition, there is a KS2 pack on teaching about Islam titled “What does it mean to be a Muslim today?”. This resource is valuable for all teachers, as it includes background information on Islam. Please visit our RE teaching packs Moodle page for details of our full catalogue offer.

Justine Ball will be speaking nationally on Jewish/Christian approaches to migration and exile, with a focus on improving understanding of both religions and highlighting their shared heritage, also reflected in aspects of Islam. She will present again in December at a national event for all English RE advisers. Following this, her presentation slides will be made available on the RE Moodle.

RE eNews has been sent to RE leaders with information on Interfaith week, taking place from 9-16 November 2025. The Inter Faith week website offers a wide range of resources and ideas, including posters, planning materials and positive inter faith stories to support your work. If your RE leader has not received our newsletter and would like to, please contact us at re.centre@hants.gov.uk.

The national RE Hubs website includes a section listing speakers who can support the teaching of religions and worldviews. These individuals offer real-life insights into religious practice and can help bring learning to life for pupils. Many of these speakers are available free of charge.
-
The annual Hampshire withdrawal survey for RE has been sent to all schools this week, along with a reminder of the law for RE. Please complete the survey and do let us know if you need any support. A member of the team will follow up with you as needed.

History guidance and resources for Hampshire Schools
-
We have been working in partnership with the Jewish Licoricia Trust to provide free resources for both primary and secondary schools, focused on the teaching of medieval Jewish society and the important story of Licoricia. Sarah Herrity has written comprehensive lesson plans and the story of Licoricia, which is available to help schools teach about medieval Jewish society and to understand some of the practices and ways of being that are still relevant today (such as celebrating festivals and Shabbat). These resources are available free of charge on the History Moodle and the digital version of the story of Licoricia is already available in a digital format for schools now on the History Moodle.
-
We have spoken nationally about this work with the Historical Association and further background information for teachers is available here: A 13thC Jewish woman: Licoricia of Winchester – OBHD.
-
The History Centre has developed a teaching pack for primary schools on Baghdad around 900 CE which supports understanding of the impact and influence of Islamic empires. The resource is titled A Beacon of Light in the Dark Ages: Early Islamic Civilisation. For more details and information on how to order, please visit the History resources catalogue Moodle page.
